Ethiopia is a landlocked country in the Horn of Africa. Yirgacheffe is one of the main coffee-growing regions in the country and it is located in southern Ethiopia.
The Konga cooperative is one of several in the Yirgacheffe region––they belong to the YCFCU (Yirgacheffe Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union)––and they have 2,400 smallholder members with meticulous attention to detail when it comes to processing coffee and prepping it for export.

Transparency
We want to be transparent about the costs involved in making a bag of coffee. Our goal is to be equitable to all parties involved, from the producers who grow the beans to those who buy our roasted coffee. We are a small local business that regularly finds new ways to improve our costs, while ensuring our customers get the highest quality cup of coffee.

Green Cost is the amount we pay to purchase the raw green coffee that goes into a bag. This includes the price we pay for shipping.
Packaging and Processing is the amount we pay for everything else that goes into making a bag that is not the actual coffee. This includes items like the coffee bag, shipping box, and credit card processing fees.
Production Costs are the amount we pay to keep the business running, such as website hosting fees, business licensing, insurance, utilities, and equipment. Finally, wages are paid from the remainder after all business necessities have been covered.
